久しぶり!

img_20171113_1410322081109401.jpgSo, today is day 5 of my JP trip. I have 3 days left before my return to the humid land.

May I just start by saying that I am damn relieved I am not caught in SG in the latest SMRT saga? I mean, train collision? Lol.

Anyway.

There is actually Korean girl band music playing in the background right now and its killing me. But I shall bear with it since this location gives me computer, internet access and a comfortable place to park myself in, along with some human company, lol. But if some guy starts singing and dancing to K-Pop, I think I might shrivel up and die. Okay, maybe I already did. *off topic*

For this trip this time, due to work and sudden change of plans, I did not make extensive plans or target to go to a lot of places. My primary goal changed, and I ended up using most of the time to rest instead. I mean, first day, I woke up at 2pm JPT and by the time I headed out, the sun was already setting at 4pm.

For my lodging, I stayed at Hotel Mystays Kameido. The room is tiny (as expected) and Kameido is not the most convenient station near to Shinjuku etc but for the price and distance of hotel to the train station, I find it very worthwhile. Not forgetting the fact that Kameido area is very convenient and well established, with Don Quixote and Uniqlo being available at the station area, along with all sorts of cafe and eateries all around.

I was at this cafe the other day at Kameido eki…

And nearing evening hours, they dimmed the lighting and the whole cafe immediately turned into a bar. I guess that’s how significant lighting can be. Just dimming the lights appropriately can create a whole new atmosphere. And it was a wonderful place. I love how every cafe in JP is catered for individuals and how nobody gives a shit about what the other person is doing. Such bliss.

And apart from buying random things (including this cute teaspoon and amazing flip book!) and spending mandatory time at Tower Records/HMV to attempt to hunt for old Jap-dorama OSTs and books (which acc to many people, is only interesting and fun to me, hence no photos or write-up about that), I took the opportunity to try CoCoICHIBANYA to see if it is nicer in JP.

Who am I kidding? The Hokkaido cream and corn is super sweet and the curry was very well cooked. Of course it is nicer in JP. Everything is nicer in JP, even the air. And my hair. And face.

I mean, seriously, I do the same kind of stuff to my face in SG and it doesn’t deliver the same effect. =/

So, the other thing I tried was Sukiya. It is not the same 好き屋 that we have in SG, which is a steamboat place,  but rather a typical economical eatery where you get beef bowl etc, like 松屋 (Matsuya) and Yoshinoya where a lot of salary men have their dinners at. I had this cheese gyudon, which was really good. And it was not expensive at all at 490 yen (approx. $6+).

So you want to save money while in Japan? Just eat at those eateries. They are located almost everywhere and the food is good and affordable! Judging from the extensive menu, I doubt one can get sick of their food in one holiday trip even if they dine at the same eatery everyday.

A friend brought me to this EL DORADO steakhouse. Of course it was yummy, though I wish they knew that hotplate cause the steak to continue cooking so they should undercook it and let it continue to cook while we are eating it.

Of course, it was yummy, wth, who am I kidding again? Lol. The garlic is just… yums.

My breakfast this morning is damn good too! Check it out.

It is actually ebi-kare-pan! Curry bread with ebi fry, with a coating of cornflake deep fried all around the bread. I loved how the curry was adequately sweet. Only sad thing is that I bought it last night from a bakery at Ebina rest area on the highway and so the crust was a bit hard when I ate it this morning. I can only imagine how magnificent it could have been had I ate it freshhhhhh *drools

And the next best thing I found in JP? COKE PLUS! It is not only zero calories, it also helps to control fat absorption. Say whuttttt~

Last but not least, let me end it off with a taste test of this particular drink that I got from the combini. It is うるおう果実ピーチ&マスカット and OMG it is so nice! There’s flakes of grape/peach within and the taste of the peach and grape? Ahhh. I need it again. Before I return.

And that’s it for now!

Maybe tomorrow, I will update about a day road trip to Shizuoka, which was just amazing.

Let me also continue my thoughts about the trip in another post.

Next: Shizuoka
